Trimble Introduces More Affordable 3D Grade Control for Excavators

2026-10-23

Trimble has introduced a more affordable configuration of its Earthworks 3D grade control system, making excavator machine control technology more accessible to small and mid-sized construction contractors.

The new system combines two DA2 GNSS receivers with Trimble’s ProPoint positioning engine, helping excavator operators improve digging accuracy, control excavation depth and reduce reliance on manual measurements.

By integrating digital design data with real-time positioning, 3D excavator grade control can help improve productivity in applications such as trenching, foundation work, drainage installation and site preparation.

The system will be offered through a Trimble Works subscription that includes WorksManager software for managing construction data between the office and jobsite. Availability is expected through Trimble’s dealer network in mid-Q4 2026.

This development reflects a broader trend in the construction equipment industry toward more accessible machine control solutions, helping contractors improve excavation efficiency and manage operating costs.
